TOUGHBOOK Innovation Forum goes virtual

The TOUGHBOOK Innovation Forum has built a reputation for being the event to find out about the latest developments in rugged mobile computing, so it was a venture into the unknown when Panasonic had to go from the physical to the virtual this year – but what a success!

Almost a thousand European customers, partners and the Panasonic TOUGHBOOOK team came together online to discuss emerging business needs, see the latest innovations and as well as share their experiences in industry vertical and regional virtual workshops.

The presenters may have been at a distance but there were some amazing sessions throughout the day:

  • Panasonic discussed the latest TOUGHBOOK line-up with in-depth looks at its two latest products. The Cardiff-based team took us behind the scenes at the solutions design lab and demonstrated their Concept in a Day capabilities by taking viewers ideas for a tablet with windscreen wipers and a device with built-in biometric identity reader and working them up into concept designs in just six hours.

  • The Panasonic ProServices team talked about how customers could get the very best from their TOUGHBOOK hardware and improve productivity with vehicle integration, customer product designs, full enterprise support, analytics and insight and software development. Finnish Toughbook partner , Kauko, brought this to life when they shared their experience in rapid app development for commercial vehicle servicing customer using TOUGHBOOK Omnia.

  • Industry giants Intel talked about overcoming remote worker service management challenges and AI at the Edge, Google gave us the latest updates on Android Enterprise and ProGlove explored how to unlock worker productivity by freeing up hands from holding devices.

  • All this, alongside great panel discussions about the future of mobile technology, breakout sessions and British energy powerhouse Centrica highlighting the important issue of addressing diversity in the workplace and how they are tackling it.

I think it’s fair to say that we were nervous about taking a step into the unknown and making TIF virtual this year but it was a necessity and has been a revelation.

The events are very important to Panasonic and our partners, as well as our customers, because they provide a fantastic opportunity to listen to our customers’ business needs and this feedback drives our innovation.

I was blown away by the levels of attendance and interaction that we saw online – with people able to dip into and out of the sessions they valued throughout the day – all without having to travel. The feedback has been tremendous and I can only thank everyone for their contributions and taking part.
